Today I decided to upgrade Firefox to version 1.5. After compiling half way the error below shown up

[dean@gasing2 /usr/port/www/firefox]make install clean
.
.
In file included from nsDNSService2.h:40,
from nsDNSService2.cpp:38:
nsHostResolver.h:95: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of
`PRAddrInfo’ with no type
nsHostResolver.h:95: error: expected `;’ before ‘*’ token
nsHostResolver.h: In member function `PRBool
.
.

I try to recompile back but still got the same error. After googling, the guy suggest to reinstall back /devel/nspr port.NSPR stand for Nestcape Portable Runtime. I dont know whats wrong with the old package. Maybe Firefox 1.5 need to use new library from NSPR port. After finish installing the nspr port I recompile back the Firefox port and walau the compiling going smoothly. For those impatient you can run the following command to install the Firefox binary

[dean@gasing2]#pkg-add -r firefox

-Update-

After resuming compiling there is another error as bellow.

ZILLA_CLIENT -include ../../../../mozilla-config.h nsNSSComponent.cpp
nsNSSComponent.cpp: In member function `virtual nsresult nsNSSComponent::LaunchS
martCardThread(SECMODModule*)’:
nsNSSComponent.cpp:585: error: `SECMOD_HasRemovableSlots’ undeclared (first use

for each function it appears in.)

gmake: *** [default] Error 2

Stop in /usr/ports/www/firefox.
Exit 1

Seems like I have many outdated software in my system. Need to use portupgrade to update all the software in my system. In the mean time I’ll resolve it manually by deinstall the /usr/port/security/nss and reinstall it back.

[dean@gasing2 /usr/port/security/nss] # make deinstall && make reinstall

After an hour the compiling is finish and I tought no more problem but lady luck is not on my side. When I try to launch Firefox the following error occured.

[dean@gasing2 ~]> firefox
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object “libpangox-1.0.so.800″ not found, required by “libgtk-x11-2.0.so.600″

Ok, this problem is very easy to solve. It is because the library is outdated. To solve it you must do symbolic link to the old library. For example after searching for libpangox-10.so in the system I get the old library name that is libpangox-1.0.so.0. Use the command below to make the symbolic link.

[dean@gasing2 /usr/X11R6/lib]# ln -s libpangox-1.0.so.0 libpangox-1.0.so.800

I encounter a few others library missing. Just do it the same way. After that my Firefox showing up and at last I can install del.ico.us extension. This extension require Firefox 1.0 - 1.5.

Bad news for WoW gamers out there. If you are using programmable keyboard or running WoW on Wine you might be suspected of using bot by Blizzard. This case happen to one of the WoW gamers nicname Infernix. So far he didnt know wether it is because of programmable keyboard or because he is running WoW on Linux using Wine. Pity him because he has been playing WoW for about one year and get banned for something he didn’t do. Read more here

Anyway what I’m interested from the story is actually the fact that WoW can be run on Linux. Hmmm if Wow can be run on FreeBSD I’m thinking of trying it. I knew that Counter Strike can be run on FreeBSD using Wine and I’ve succesfully test it. But the game itself cost around RM200 here in Malaysia and for another expansion you must fork out another RM200. Better spent it for my fishing gear and stick with my current online game A3. Maybe when I get my bonus this year then I can spend a little for WoW.

Fishing or gaming…fishing or gaming…fishing…gaming :s

Where : Rawang
When : Friday night 10/03/06

Last weekend our team got an invitation from Matapiz and the gang to go fishing at Rawang. The place is near Rawang Country Home if I’m not mistaken. It is an old mine with many big species according to them.

We arrive there around 11pm. The place is quite dark and the road can only be access by 4 wheel drive. I can hear big splash coming from the mine. Must be rohu or patin species. After unpacking all the things we start fishing. Alltogether the are around 20+ rod with 9 member. An average 2 rod per person. I only use 1 rod as it is easy to tangle with other rod because of the small place that we park.

The first fish was brought up by Belidabones around 12pm. It is jelawat species around 200g. After that there was silence and I feel very sleepy. Around 2pm one the member got a big strike from the middle of the mine. After about 10 minutes the fish was brought up and it is rohu species weight 3.6KG. The whole night we got 3 rohu, 1 jelawat and 1 baung.

Some picture of the catch and the team member that going there.

The biggest rohu 3.8KG was catch by Sahir our team leader.

Altough I didnt get anything not even a nibble but the trip was a great success because we manage to land a few big species. Around 5am we slowly packing and after dividing the catch we move back to home. I need to sleep early because we have another place to visit in the evening - Tow Foo Sportfishing.

From Slashdot

IBM leaving Vista for Linux

Hmmm..whats next. But for sure I’ll not dump my WinXp. I need it to play games unless I can install and play 3D games on my FreeBSD. So far only Half Life can run on my BSD using Wine. Never try WineX yet. From its homepage they said it support a lot of 3D games but for sure not the latest one.

Miss my virtual friend in A3 online games :( . All from Singapore. Dont want commited back to that game because once I start play seems that I’ll be teleport to another world where there is no hunger and tired. I can play from morning till late at night without eat or sleep. Sometimes sleep around 2 hours get up and playing back. China government already impose policy to limit time playing online game. Think it is a good move to curb the young player from addicted to online game.

Today I got my confirmation….yahuuuuuu!. Thanx to linuxlah for his guidance and for his backup during appraisal. He support me all the way and gave me a good mark :D . Must treat him when we got our bonus this year (if there is bonus hehe…)

This weekend me and my fishing kaki team will make a trip to Rawang. Didnt know the detail yet. Just receive sms from the leader saying that we will go to Rawang. Will update here when we go back from there. Pray for me to get big monster fish :D . Till next time….
